The world knows that talk is cheap, but you've described what I've long suspected: talk cheapens.

Our core is ineffable. We can attempt to paint it using words, but each time we set up the easel for an interested soul our pallet's colors fade a little more. Not to the world, but to ourselves. In time we are left with a shell of words around a idea divorced, the hermit crab has fled the nautilus.

So feel, love, care, look, and abosrb - and use words with the thrift of old Vermonters.

"The first couple of jobs were stressful, but I knew it would get easier as I learned how to deliver what the client needed, and it did."

"Along the way I learned two other new, enormous and confusing CAD software packages (that no one told me to learn!)"

Careful with that BS axe Eugene... ; )

I completely understand your comments and decision making you have done over the years. I too was in similar situations and made similar choices as well, and to me they were the right choices for myself and my family. You do have to have the drive and the want for many of the contract positions, and in the end it is only you that can make the correct choices. You do have to make some sacrifices at the beginning of this process, but as you have, I believe I am far better off now. Maybe we have even shared a few of these choices in life, or even worked on the same projects. :-)

Comment on Debt– the Freedom Tax by David Millar

I was enlightened by an article written by James Quinn for www.Minyanville.com. The title was "Baby Boomers Led Us Into Fiscal, Moral Bankruptcy". A real eye opener as to our downward spiral over the last 30 years. I shared this article with a poetic friend of mine David Kent whom has this to say about the content of the article:

Cast aside the idle rumors
Our downfall stems from Baby Boomers
Shallow,greedy,and corrupt
Their selfish end will be abrupt

Want to keep up with the Jones?
Just max the card and get more loans!
Monthly payments can't be met?
Go borrow more-create more debt

Spoiled children college fees?
A student loan from U.S.C.
Pushing paper is the key
There's less for you and more for me

Avoid the guilt, don't get involved
When you're depressed, just hit the mall
Spending is the panacea
For monetary diarrhea

A sub-prime loan and new Mercedes
Toboggan ride straight down to Hades
Don't fret about financial cancer
A Starbucks latte is the answer

Soccer moms and C.E.O.'s
Will add hope to this sordid prose
The S.U.V.'s and added fees
Are somehow comforting to me

Let's help the lawyers and the bankers
We trust them as financial anchors
Print more money- max inflation
And please move forward with elation

700 billion dollars?
Where did it go? They heard us holler
Faster than a Titan rocket
Straight into their waiting pockets

God bless you all- says Mr. Bush
While calmly sitting on his tush
The sheep are shorn
My welcome worn
But please don't look so darn forlorn

By keeping your composure
While your house is in foreclosure
You can now appreciate
My feeble efforts were too late

So look forward to the coming years
While crying in your empty beers
This is now an invocation
To the new "Obamanation"

It is not what we will upon ourselves that makes us happy it is the understanding that we are given will from the universe. And that when we just stop and wonder we begin to glance at the zen like meaning of life or at least the beauty of life.

Sometimes it takes a traumatic experience such as the death of a loved one that knocks us off our feet or sometimes it may just be a age related threshold we pass through where wisdom replaces desire. As we grow old and watch our lives come closer to the end we question life and what we are doing this all for. We are no longer young and bold but now old and feeble.

How is it that the old and feeble keep their will to live when they suffer so much? Why is their will to live so strong when there is so little to live for as their bodies deteriorate? What wisdom to they have that younger people cant comprehend. For many of us life is a harsh struggle to just eat and survive. Yet for some of those who struggle every day their spirits have a peacefulness.

Is it as simple as the love we have for those of us around us that keeps us here and sane? The quiet reflection of our existence is where the answers lay. It may be a dancing piece of paper or the lapping of waves that takes us there. May we all find our inner peace and joy and look at the world around us that way. If only for a short while so we may die in peace life will have meant something.
