Living Choices

Waging freedom requires that one has options. Personal freedom involves maintaining options and living a life that invites and allows for them. But there is a dance you do with these options you value so highly. For every one that you exercise, a number of them go away. They have real value only when you do use them, though. Padding your world with the comforting notion of choice, as they do, as you do, is not at all the same as you benefiting from their promise, not the same as harvesting your potency.

And, trying to somehow preserve them via inactivity is futile, as their existence often depends on circumstance in the first place, and circumstance is forever changing. Luckily, bending reality with your will in itself creates new choices, and this is key:
The options you gain by actively using the ones you have might be of a better quality, for you, than those bestowed upon you by chance. Why would this be? Because they are a product of your involvement, rather than random circumstance; they fit you, and they follow from your engagement. Don’t worry, they will never completely replace choices that the universe sets in front of you…
