You’ve decided there’s a stand to be made, some flag to be waved, a song to be sung on mountain tops at the top of your mortal lungs, boy. All that stuff. You huffed and you puffed and you made a calculated and arbitrary decision that a reasonable response to all you know was not satisfaction; that you would reject satisfaction even if your best friend thought you’d chucked your capacity for calm contentment with it; that you would drag your ass and dying wit and perspective around the whole world for some small surprise, an interesting death and a mirror that would show you a face you could look in the eye.

The difference between doing nothing and being able to work very hard at something you enjoy, is all the difference in the world. It’s the difference between landing and flying.
For me, waging freedom was always going to be about the latter.

Head South

“Supersonnet— it was a fun ride south; we came to know our pores again and it wasn’t like I’d imagined it would be. Shit it was real-er, I never had any idea what time it was, and I was so happy I almost threw up. Big winners in Vegas and who even cared? The course was set, we’d gone tangential and infused the path with our resolve. We couldn’t lose.

The unreality of finally getting on that airplane Sonnet….. Landing here I caught mystupidself bemoaning the hell of ~25 hrs in transit (like I didn’t give my blood for it) and then I saw the Balinese boy with his grandmother sitting on a bed frame in front of their house all smiles in slow motion as I passed by in the taxi, sun shards & incense smoke through the trees, a small sight that I was so lucky to have made it here JUST in time to affirm for you….”
